Hey Friends!

We were fooled by signs of Spring showing up in March and then a few weeks of bad weather came to Barcelona with an ending of red earth rain for a night which made the city look like som spooky movie! But it’s always like this every year in March – we get some wonderful weather and then it changes but now I feel that Spring has arrived! We’re 5th of April. People have been swimming today. Actually my niece got into the sea and did her first swim on March 16th! Can you beilive it. I will never forget her excitement of getting into the sea, like a little animal playing with the waves and freezing cold sea water. Very brave. So Spring is here and I always have an urge to clean out my body, clean my windows and put away the winter clothes. So today I started my body cleanse, a 5-day green smoothie cleanse, have you done it before? If you have let me know how it made you feel, this is my first time.

Green Smoothie is a drink–it is a blend of fruits and greens, and sometimes other great ingredients that boost your health like spirulina, macca and flax seeds. It’s like a fruit smoothie, only, in our case, it is all plant based with an added ingredient: greens, such as spinach, Romaine lettuce, collard greens, kale etc

“Why Greens?” you might want to know. .

Leafy greens are known as nature’s blood. And it is no surprise. Greens are full of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is absolutely necessary for plants to grow and produce fruit. Look out the window… You see, green must be universe’s favorite color, since most of our surroundings are covered with green grass, trees and bushes.

Chlorophyll make leaves turn the luscious green color and gets its pigmentation and oxygen directly from the sunlight. When chlorophyll (think oxygen) gets into our bodies it brings along with it healing—as diseases can thrive only in acidic, oxygen deprived environments. The more greens you can get into your body, the more alkaline it becomes.

So, greens essentially are your lifeline. They also take only minutes to make but pack on a huge amount of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. You can have them as a meal replacement or snack. And the wonders they will do for your metabolism are amazing!

So today i started my morning with a smoothie of:
2 cups of spinach
2 mangos (peeled and chopped)
1 banana
1 tea spoon powder of: spirulina and macca
1,5 cup of coconut water
It was yummy!

For lunch i had a smoothie of:
1 apple
1 lemon
1 cup of spinach
1 celery
1/3 cup flat parsley
1 tb ground flax seeds
1/4 tb ground cinnamon
1 tea spoon powder of : spirulina & macca
1,5 cup of water

It was ok, not as nice as the breakfast one but it wasn’t horrible. I’ve had ups and down with my energy today and a little bit of headache, but this is normal for the first few days. I’m drinking alot of water, herbal teas and coconut water inbetween. Will be interesting to see which smoothie recipe I will do this evening – watch this space!
