Liz, tell me about who you are, what you do & a little bit about your life

-Hello Nunu & Nunu’s Community! I’m an American expat, living in Barcelona and working for PepsiCo. I moved here 5 years ago after a couple of years in Hungary. I’m originally from Oregon, which is on the west coast of the United States.

2)How did you end up in Barcelona? What do you love most about living in Barcelona? and dislike the most?Describe your idyllic Barcelona day?

I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to move to Barcelona because we have one of our largest offices in Europe situated here. I love so many things about Barcelona – too many to mention! The first things that come to mind are the culture, the wonderful architecture, the food & the energy of the city. I can’t really describe it – but the city has a great energy that makes me so happy! I can’t think of anything that I “dislike” (though it’s not always easy & of course, there are some not so great days).
My idyllic day in Barcelona is spent wandering around – finding new places to eat & drink & shop. I also have a great terrace & i LOVE to entertain friends on a warm spring day.
.

3)What’s the biggest thing you have learnt from living in several cultures/countries? What would be your advice to someone starting off on that journey?
Good question! After living in Hungary & Spain & traveling to many countries throughout Europe – I’d say the biggest thing I’ve learned is to listen & appreciate different perspectives. There are so many differences – culture, history, nationalities – take the time to learn from them when you can. It enhances your perspective & also helps you to make stronger connections.

4) This newsletter is about pampering and the good life, you strike me as someone who enjoy’s life, what does the good life mean to you?what’s a day in the good life for you?

The good life to me is being in the moment. Appreciating the “now” and not focusing on something that has happened or something that may happen. I’m not always great at it – but I continue to try. A day in the good life is a bike ride, enjoying the Barcelona sun, spending time with family & close friends & of course, a Nunu massage. I try to get as much sleep as possible & (try to) unplug one day per week.

5) I know one of your passions is cooking – what’s your favouriste cuisine? what is your favourite dish/recipe to cook?

I do love – strike that – LOVE – to cook however I don’t have a favorite cuisine. My taste varies by season, the people I’m with and the location. I enjoy a wide range of foods – especially shellfish & various types of seafood – which is something that I’ve picked up more since moving to Spain. This picture was taken on a trip to Cadiz in February — I thoroughly enjoyed eating super fresh oysters and urchin from street vendors while walking around the city!
My go to recipe right now is a Greek dish I learned at a cooking school in Ikaria called Shrimp Saganaki. I’m linking the recipe. It has shrimp (of course – I get the best langoustine at the markets in Barcelona), in a tomato sauce with feta & ouzo. Doesn’t sound like it would work but it absolutely does & it’s delicious. I serve it with long pasta http://www.dianekochilas.com/shrimp-saganaki-with-ouzo-and-feta/

6) You’ve been having regular massages, why? how do they make you feel? how have they helped?
I love massages, especially Nunu’s massages 🙂 Though I try not to sit for too long, I do work at an office on a computer most days. Adding to the issue is traveling a lot. I try to be healthy on the road but it does take a toll.
I get massages because they relieve my tension in a way that nothing else can. I completely feel a difference in my energy from regular massage treatments. I feel better, have better posture, sleep more deeply & have a better overall sense of well being.
